Rincon Valley Circuit Hike

This circuit hike is rated (6) moderately challenging

From the village of Texas in Rincon, we take to the road and walk out to the Old Paria Main Road that will bring us to the main entrance to the popular Las Cuevas Beach. We pass the entrance and proceed until we come to a large silver water tank to our right at the foot of a hill.....from here, the official hike begins. At this point, just about 3.5 miles of road walking has been accomplished.

From the tank, (180 feet above sea level), a steady uphill trek awaits along dirt terrain with beautiful vistas of the Caribbean Sea and the Northern Range are afforded to us before we finally become engulfed into the forest. Good terrain all the way along a narrow trail until we reach to the historical "Brasso Santo Trace".....a trace that was used by our ancestors when they traversed from Las Cuevas to Caura Village back in the day. This trek is just 1 mile and the altitude at Brasso Santo Trace at this point is 830 feet. De-forestation is all around us at this point as we make our way into the Northern Range once again along a clear track through virgin forest for the next 3.6 miles where at this time we are now at the Texas Village Junction. The altitude at this junction is 1,398 feet.

From this junction, we veer off Brasso Santo Trace and we take another clear trail that will ultimately lead us back to the where we started our trek in Texas Village. A constant downhill trek, once again through virgin forest all the way for the next 4.2 miles to our finish point.

Altogether, 12.3 miles of hiking results in a great day indeed.
